Backstage Recap of Mimi’s Boutique 4th Annual Fashion Show

On February 8th, more than 300 guests attended Mimi’s Boutiq 4th annual Fashion Show at Newport Beach Side Hotel featuring designers La Belle Couture, Djenane Desrouleaux, Eccoci, Kaltural, Swimwear by Adjanie Muller, Louca Bell Collection, Onyx, Le Tron’ King Divo, Risque Dukes, Adjanie Muller, Classy Lady Creationz, Beware Swimwear, Catou Wear, Marly Haiti and Martine Valcin. The show, led by Haitian-American model Tico Armand and Haiti’s Chokarella host Carel Pedre included performances by Arly Lariviere, Ada and Francki Amour.

While the guest, DJ’s, media and Haitian socialites mingled and watch the show from their seats, I had a VIP ticket to cover backstage and danced, snapped social network photos, partied and saw all the good, bad and ugly about producing such a large show with over 20 models and two electrifying host .

Here is an inside look of everything off the runway. If you were following my snap chat (username lunionsuite) during the show, you saw what model behavior really mean when the music came on and the runway lights were off.  I will post the pictures of the designers lines soon, keep checking the site for updates.

Few weeks ago I attended the third edition of Haiti Fashion Week (HFW) at the Karibe Hotel Convention Center in Petion-Ville, Haiti held from October 31st through November 2nd. This year’s theme focuses on the important linkages between fashion and heritage.

Nora David is probably the most easy-going handbag designer you will come across. A self-professed hater of boredom and lover of life who sees things in black in white—though she admits that philosophy isn’t necessarily always good, David has fashion in her blood. Her mother Maëlle F. David is a designer, and her aunt is none other than classic beauty queen and stylist Gerthie David, who was the runner-up in the 1975 Miss Universe contest. – Read More Here

Meet Haitian American Chef Lori Charles

Chef Lori Charles is a Le Cordon Bleu educated, well-traveled, and experienced personal chef who caters for events, intimate dinners, and health requirements.

Lori was born in the United States and moved to Haiti as a child where she attended Union School in Petion-ville. She is the recipient of the prestigious President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement (awarded by President George W. Bush). In 2001, she received an appointment to the United States Military Academy Preparatory School & The United States Military Academy-West Point and became the first female to receive an appointment to join the “Long Grey Line” from Haiti.

Haiti’s Prime minister, Laurent Lamothe, has been awarded Innovative Leader of the year for Latin America and the Caribbean, by the Latin Trade Group which provides information services to business societies in the region where the Caribbean country’s leadership is credited of a series of measures to create a more friendly environment for investments.

Inspired by the hit show “Shark’s Tank”, “HRA Investor’s tank” is for entrepreneurs with existing businesses or development projects seeking funding from grantors, Diaspora investors or venture capitalists.
