“Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved. -Mattie Stepanek”

My name is Wanda; I’m a Haitian-Turks Islander who grew up in South Florida not having much knowledge of my Haitian Culture. Since I feel like I missed so much of who I am growing up, I want to spend the rest of my life learning and also educating others about Haiti, Haitians, Haitian Americans and our beautiful culture.

L’union Suite was created  in October 2011 to serve as a daily Haitian American culture, lifestyle and entertainment blog. This blog will also aim to highlight positive Haitian community leaders and keep you informed with uplifting stories about Haitian-American in their careers, local community, universities, families and more.

Haitian-American defined: Haitian-Americans are Americans of Haitian heritage, or Haitian-born people who are naturalized citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The largest proportion of Haitian-Americans live in South Florida, New York, Washington, D. C., Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston. According to the 2009 the US Census, there are an estimated 1,000,000 Haitian-Americans living in the U.S. Background: Haitians that emigrated to the United States brought many of their cultural practices and ideologies to their communities. Many foreign-born Haitians went into the business sector, often setting up their own businesses.
